I am dedicated to understanding your dog’s unique personality and tailoring my approach to bring out the best in them. From my basic training Barking Up The Right Tree One to One Training Packages (puppies and dogs) to my more complex Home Is Where The Dog Is Behavioural Consultations, I’m here to create a harmonious bond between you and your four-legged friend.
The Dog In Me also offers an online Dog Training Without the Dogs course (Click here to for details). I have found that in a training class environment the hands on training can often get in the way of owner (and dog) understanding. Dog Training Without the Dogs overcomes this and uses slides, video demonstrations and discussion to take you and your dog on a training journey that feels tailored to you.

Dog Training Without The Dogs This course is structured to teach the basic principles of how dogs learn. Using slides, video demonstrations and discussion, the course will guide the learner through training methods, the effectiveness of training methods, practical training situations and take a peek at the dog’s mind.

Sometimes our dogs behave in ways that make no sense to us. They run away from us. They lunge unexpectedly at another dog. They use the toilet somewhere they never have before… and on and on. A lot of the time it can be a one-off blip, never to occur again. But, there are times when it becomes a problem. It keeps happening.

My Barking Up The Right Tree one to one 6 week training programme is designed to teach what I consider to be five fundamentals (Response to name, sit, down, recall, lead walking). Over the years I have learned that there are 2 things that dog owners want most.

We have a feisty, bouncy 1.5 year old wired fox terrier- Mabel. Mabel is very intelligent? It wasn’t until Tara came into our lives we realised how trainable she is.
She had real issues around other dogs when on the lead- Tara taught us lots of helpful tricks.
Mabel is far from perfect- but now our walks are much more pleasant. My daughter has also taught Mabel lots of “silly” little games that Tara showed us- this has really helped their bond. Thank you!!!

Just wanted to say again, thank you for everything you have done for Dutch and Ray and I.
You have been absolutely amazing and have helped us so much with a very difficult situation that we saw no way out of other than putting Dutch down, which is not what we wanted as we never wanted to give up on him.
We are now able to understand and read him so much better, and now have a better insight into what works best for him and what triggers his behaviour.
Due to his awful start in life, we now know he lacks confidence and needs lots of reassurance and that he is frightened of new situations and not aggressive as we previously thought.
You have worked tirelessly with us both in the face to face sessions and frequent check in’s via WhatsApp and your advice has not fallen on deaf ears.
Every day is a school day and we are still learning what works best for our Dutchy.
